Camden Multi Faith Project 2006 - 2007
The Camden Multi
Faith Project is funded by The Home Office Communities Fund
and brings together:
London Central Mosque, St
John’s Wood Liberal Jewish Synagogue, St Michael’s
Church, The Jewish Museum Camden, St Michael’s Primary
School, Richard Cobden Primary School and the Ampthill Square
Muslim Mother tongue school in a series of workshops and
celebrations inspired by the idea that “there is more
to life than meets the eye”.
The partners have joined
in a year long programme of dialogue, presentations, celebrations,
workshops, a Procession of Light and a Sculptural Arts Trail
aspiring to learn about each other and each others’
faith, with a focus on communicating with the children we
work with.
In September 2006 through
a series of workshops and presentations, children, artists
and faith leaders collaborated towards creating lanterns,
puppets and banners for a Multi-faith Gathering that took
place on 28 September in St Martin’s Gardens. The
event will took place during a time of the year which is
hugely important on the religious calendar of the Christian,
Muslim and Jewish Faiths, when the St Michael’s celebration,
Yom Kippur and Ramadan all share the importance of self
reflection, repentance and Justice.
Activities included:
• Shared presentation by Imam Ali Ahmed, Rabbi Kathleen
Middleton and Father Nicholas Wheeler
• Songs
• Break of Ramadan and Prayer with water and dates
• Buffet
• Procession of Light
