Fantastic Planet
Fantastic Planet
is Rise Phoenix's environmental theatre and arts project
which is designed to stimulate and educate children to discover
more about their own part in local natural and social history.
It also allows children to be involved in an educational
and fun project during the long summer
break, where they can meet new friends and learn new skills.
Each programme culminates in a colourful
site specific theatre performance, on location around the
Camden and the King's Cross area.
The theme of the project changes
each year and the shows have been as diverse as a play about
carniorous plants, exploring the dangers of junk food, the
history of canals & the endangered species of the King's
Cross basin.
Each year participants
are also taken to Pertwood Organic Farm, a working farm
in Wiltshire (see separate
page) for a residential arts weekend, where they have
time to make friends, explore their surroundings, help out
on the site and create drama and music in a natural environment. The
camps include cooking locally grown food and starry nights
of storytelling and sharing around the campfire.
