Partners
For more than 40 years, La Frontera Arizona has been committed to working collaboratively with our public and private partners to solve community problems. We have the resources and expertise to address issues of behavioral health, housing, family and children’s services, employment, crisis intervention, and community and cultural education.
We work hard to build personal responsibility, to stabilize families, and to assist individuals in achieving their recovery goals. And that makes all of our communities safer, stronger and healthier. |
The Commit Campaign is a photo-based movement breaking the stigma associated with mental health and mental illness to ultimately reduce the nation’s suicide rate.
Members of The Commit Campaign strive to create a community to speak freely, without stigma on these topics. The Campaign educates through social media platforms, community networks, and community events to share educational materials, personal stories of those who are survivors of suicide loss and mental illness. Led by Christina Tetreault and Kelsey Oney, survivors of suicide loss, and established in Phoenix, Arizona with Commit Campaign members across the country. |
An initiative of La Frontera Arizona and its community partners, Reach Out. Check In. is an effort created to promote positive, life-affirming human interaction, and to show that interacting with another in times of stress and struggle can make a substantial difference in their lives. We all need to realize that reaching out to connect with someone who might be struggling can help. It may even save a life.
And it can be as simple as saying “hello” to someone at school or work who seems to be alone, having a cup of coffee with a neighbor, going to dinner with a family member, taking a walk with someone who needs to talk, or just listening. Because people will tell you when they’re in trouble, if not in words, then in tone or demeanor or action. Reach Out. Check In. reminds us that something as simple as a smile or a conversation can go a long way in showing that you care. You are not asked to solve someone’s problems, but you are encouraged to listen, to connect, to reach out and check in.

The DREAM Project Compilation CD is an awareness tool produced in 2011 to help prevent suicide. "The Dream" is a poem that survivor of suicide loss and prevention activist Raela Marie Villanueva wrote the week after her younger brother "Jr." took his life in 1997 at the age of 22. Her poem along with another one titled "Sunset" become songs in 2009 and thanks to several musician friends, the first CD was produced with 16 songs all original music. Her brother's painting of a sunset found the week before production is featured on the back cover of the sleeve. The CD sleeve lists the warning signs of suicide and National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 800-273-TALK number. Her mission is to spread awareness through the music with several compilation CD's to follow, recruiting original songs from those who have lost someone or just want to support the cause. All proceeds from sales of each volume will benefit different suicide prevention organizations.
