This week's guest on Inner Monologue is Desert Canvas Co-Founder, Caitlin MacMurtrie.  She is a biology student from Austin,Texas who found a love for mountain climbing in Arizona.  Caitlin and I discussed her role in building Desert Canvas, an organization that builds community through workshops and music festivals. She expands on her experience and passion for music festivals and how the creative collaborative atmosphere of Burning Man inspired her passion for Desert Canvas.

Frances discusses her journey through grief of losing her step son to suicide.  She shares how she wouldn't trade the experience of knowing her step son for the removal of pain from her loss.  We also speak about the growth that occurs in intimate relationship after a shared grieving experience of the loss of a child.  She also discusses how the loss has shaped her personality to include more introspection, emotional self-awareness and healthy daily practices.

This week's guest on Inner Monologue is the owner and operator of video production company Creatista, Scott Griessel.  We begin by discussing the value of going on a long, adventurous quest as a transitional point in life to open your eyes to a new way of being, giving up parts of the self to gain a different awareness.  Scott also shares the experience of creating a documentary film of a group who walked across the country as he lived and journeyed, long term, along side them in an intense and intimate manner.  We also discuss the varied art forms that he continues to engage in with his business in photography and film, as he emphasizes the importance that all of life is art and creative expression.

This week's guest on Inner Monologue podcast is Executive Director of Sonoran Prevention Works, Haley Coles. Haley opens up about her history with heroin dependency and her journey to sobriety. She shares how her quest to help others began after working at the Tacoma Needle Exchange in Washington state. Since then she has worked on reforming policy, conducting overdose prevention training and advocating the importance of understanding the origins of the addiction.
